Nonograms: free daily picture logic puzzles
Nonograms are picture logic puzzles, also known as Picross, Griddlers, Hanjie or paint by numbers. Use the number clues to work out which squares to fill, and a hidden picture appears. Every puzzle here has exactly one solution that you can reach by logic alone.
Play the free daily nonogram, the same 10×10 picture for everyone, or switch to Unlimited for as many puzzles as you like in three sizes. Looking for a word game instead? Try Wordle.gg.
How to play
A nonogram is a picture hidden in a grid. The numbers beside each row and above each column tell you which squares to fill in. Use logic to work it out and reveal the picture.
- 1 Each number is a run of filled squares in that row or column. "3 1" means a run of three, then at least one gap, then a single square.
- 2 Start with the big numbers. A 10 fills a whole line, and an 8 in a line of ten always covers the middle six squares.
- 3 Mark squares you know are empty with a cross. It helps you see where the remaining runs can fit.
- 4 When a line matches its clue, its numbers fade out. Complete every line to reveal the picture and stop the clock.
Solving techniques
Every puzzle can be solved step by step. These are the moves you will use most often.
Reading a clue
A clue of 3 1 means three filled squares together, a gap of at least one empty square, then one more filled square. The runs appear in the order shown.
Big numbers first
An 8 in a row of ten fits in only three places. Compare the leftmost and rightmost positions: the squares they share are filled whatever happens.
Full and empty lines
A 10 fills the whole line. A 0 means nothing in the line is filled, so every square can be crossed out.
Cross out what is left
When a line already has all its runs, the remaining squares must be empty. Cross them out so you do not fill them by mistake.
Use the edges
A filled square against the edge has to be the start of a run. With a clue of 4, the first four squares are filled and the rest are empty.
